A ranch dog and a wolf face the challenges of growing up—together.
When a puppy named Sky learns that his littermate has been chosen to be a working dog on the ranch and he has been left behind to be a house pet, he yearns for a chance to prove himself. Wandering into the nearby forest one day, he meets a young wolf named Timby, who is also trying to learn his place within his pack. The friendship they form as they navigate the tension between the pack and Sky's ranch family sees them through many adventures, and the bond that they share goes straight to the heart of what true kinship means.
About the Author
Rick Ferruggia has enjoyed the natural world for most of his life. Growing up fishing and hunting he developed a genuine interest in conservation. While he no longer hunts, he continues to marvel at wildlife in person, online, and through trail-cam observation. Through fly fishing, he has visited many beautiful regions of the U.S. and Canada, which has made an indelible impression on his perspective of the importance of preserving and protecting natural and wild areas and its waters. After a career of real estate investment and management, he spends much of his time as president of a local watershed protection organization in northwestern N.J. He enjoys playing ice hockey with family and friends during the winter months. He and his wife have three adult sons and reside on a small farm with their beloved dog Phoenix.
