On the night of October 27, 2007, three teenage girls were walking home after a day of football, family, and fun, when they were struck by an under-age drunk driver in a pickup who fled the scene. Two of the girls survived, forever changed. Fourteen-year-old Mariah Daye McCarthy did not. One October Night is the very personal story of Mariah’s family and their community in close-knit Butte, Montana, and the journey undertaken by Mariah’s father, Leo, as he seeks justice for his daughter and peace for his family, and a more lasting legacy for Mariah.
